Whether you're already licensed or just starting out, here's everything you need to get contracted and writing business.
Step 1: Agent registration
Fill out the onboarding form so we can set you up.
Step 2: Requirements
Carriers need these before they'll contract you as an independent broker.
E&O insurance
You are required to have E&O insurance (personal liability coverage) to be contracted with the insurance carriers as an independent broker. Our preferred provider is NAPA. Once purchased, they will email you a copy of your E&O insurance certificate. Make sure to download and save it.
AML certificate
Have your anti-money laundering (AML) exam certificate prepared as well. You can take the exam here.
Beneficiary
Select a beneficiary, such as a family member or friend. Have their contact information, address, Social Security number and date of birth ready.
Voided check or direct deposit form
Make sure the info on your voided check is accurate, especially your name. If not, get a direct deposit letter from your bank. Carriers pay commissions directly into the account you provide, so confirm it's the right one.
Step 3: Contracting process
After your registration form has been submitted, your admin or manager takes it from here.
Contracting request
The admin or manager completes the new agent contracting request form.
Compensation schedule
The carrier compensation schedule has the grids for every compensation level. Licensed team members can find it in the broker portal.
Welcome email
Once the form has been submitted, you'll receive a welcome email with two important links: the first is for the primary carriers, the second is for additional carriers.
Achilles email first
You must create an Achilles Financial email before registering with the carriers.

State requirements
Review licensing requirements by state. In the document for your state, you'll find the link for scheduling your test and your fingerprint requirements. It's very important to schedule your test first, then have fingerprints done before your test date to speed up your licensing.
Schedule your exam
Schedule through your state's Department of Insurance proctoring service website (found under your state in the link above). Schedule it 10–14 days from today. That gives you enough time to complete your pre-licensing education and study, and you can always reschedule on the same website if you need to move it.
Pre-licensing
Register for your course
Register for your state course and complete it through ExamFX. Click Sign up to create a new student account.
Choose the course
Select Life pre-licensing or Life and Health pre-licensing, add the course to your cart and go to the cart.
Apply your discount
In the cart, apply the discount code that will be sent to your email.
Important
The course only lasts 30 days. If you need more time, you can extend it for $44.99 through the course site.
State licensing
Book your exam
Schedule your exam online with your state's testing provider, Pearson VUE, or call (888) 754-7667.
Fingerprints
Schedule a fingerprint appointment through IdentoGO or call (888) 467-2080.
Pass your exam
Take and pass your exam. You need a 70 to pass.
Apply for your license
Apply at NIPR. Create a profile, then request your license. Select Individual (unless your business has its own insurance license) and Permanent for license type.
License number and NPN
Your license number is emailed to you first (usually 1–7 days, varies by state). Your NPN (national producer number) follows 2–3 days later. You'll need both to start contracting. Call your resident state's Department of Insurance daily and ask them to check on your progress to speed things up.
Send them to us
Send your NPN and state license number to your manager and the team admin at achillesfinancial.onboarding@gmail.com. Then follow the licensed path to get contracted.
